Nags Head Church Leadership
Nags Head Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.
has been on staff at NHC since 1991 and is continually amazed that he
has been given the opportunity to pastor a most amazing community of
believers. Along with preaching most Sunday mornings, Rick teaches our
Discovering Life at Nags Head Church class, and serves as the leader of
our team of pastors, ensuring that our vision stays true to our
beliefs. He has undergrad ('77) and seminary ('84) degrees from Liberty
University and Seminary in Lynchburg, VA.
You can often find Rick hanging out with Nags Head firefighters and police officers and responding to those in need following traumatic events in his volunteer role as the town's fire and police chaplain. He also serves as chaplain to the Outer Banks Detachment of the Marine Corps League.
In 2018, The Replanted Church, Rick’s first book was published.
Rick and Gail met in college and have been married since 1977. They've called the Outer Banks "home" since 1986, which gives him a unique perspective on reaching our resort community. They are the proud parents of Nathan (married to Tricia), Sarah (married to Terry) and Rachel (married to Ramon) and love spending time with their five grandchildren.
Pastor of Partner Care
A member of our elder team since 1996, Tom and his wife Sandra have been Partners at NHC longer than anyone, attending since his childhood. Tom leads our Usher Team, our Partner Care team and teaches on Sundays several times a year. When he's not serving at NHC, Tom operates a drywall and painting business.
Tom and his wife, Sandra are the parents of four daughters and six grandchildren.
Andy has been on staff since 2001 and has recently transitioned from youth ministry to organizing our Mission Teams, coaching our Ministry Teams, and leading our Discipleship strategy. Along with teaching our CLASS: 201, Andy helps our partners grow in their faith and equips our team leaders to help our partners use their gifts in serving the church.
Andy oversees our mission

The Bahamas. Each year NHC sends multiple teams over to serve with local churches.
Andy and his college sweetheart, Misha, have been married for 30 plus years and love living on the Outer Banks. Misha and Andy have three children, one in high school and twins in fifth grade. Andy's is a foodie and enjoys cooking and eating out, and he loves to take his Jeep four-wheeling on the beach. Andy volunteers his time as a little league baseball coach.
only is Burnie one of our elders but he is also our volunteer executive
pastor, Burnie oversees the administration of our staff and church
finances. Burnie also plays the bass guitar in the MilePost13 band.
While his service at NHC is as a volunteer, Burnie stays extremely busy with his business ventures.
Burnie and his wife, Roxanne commute from Chesapeake, VA every week where they spend much of their time hanging with their six grandsons.
Children's Ministry Director
recently retired elementary school teacher of thirty plus years, Bonnie
has a heart and a gift for working with children. Hired on staff in
the spring of 2015, Bonnie has already led our children's teams to the
next level and has more exciting plans for the future. You'll find her
and her team of thirty NHC Partners serving 100 plus children in
Cowabunga Cove every Sunday.
Outside of work and ministry, Bonnie enjoys camping and traveling with her family.
is also our Connection Groups Coach. He oversees and encourages our
C-Groups to maintain a healthy atmosphere in which they can grow in
Ramon and his wife Rachel have three children. Ramon makes a killer black bean and corn salsa.
Luke has been on staff since May 2018. Luke is a recent graduate of
Liberty University. On Sundays you can find Luke on our stage leading
us to worship God in music. His love for worship is evident in his
Luke and his wife, Naomi, are newlyweds. They have a sweet puppy dog named Zoe.
Pastor of Assimilation
has been active in Nags Head Church since moving the OBX in 2009 to
become the Northeast NC Area Director for the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes. He is a 1991 graduate of Virginia Tech and received his
M.Div degree from Southeastern Seminary in 2002.
Scott is our pastor of assimilation, helping our regular attenders to connect and become partners in the church.
Scott has been involved in student ministry for 25 years, the past 20 with FCA. He's been involved in the G252 Student Ministries at NHC since 2010 serving students.
He's been married to Lori for 25 years and has two daughters, Chloe and Judy.
